• The Great Outdoors: Chattahoochee Paddle Adventure

Close out the summer with your own adventure in The Great Outdoors! Join Science ATL for a guided paddle trip down the Chattahoochee. Along the way we’ll learn from local scientists and naturalists about the river’s history and formation, flora and fauna, and even the impacts of climate change.
Ticket price includes equipment rental, guided paddle adventure, and shuttle service back to the Johnson Ferry Outpost.

Parking and Logistics
Parking is free at the NOC Chattahoochee Outpost - Johnson Ferry.
We will be on the river for a few hours, please bring water and snacks and/or lunch.


All attendees must be at least 5 years old.
Attendees must be at least 9 years old to go in a single sit on top kayak or 5 years old in a tandem kayak with an adult (18+).
There is a 1:4 Adult/Child ratio for guests under 11 years old.
All attendees must complete the NOC waiver prior to or upon check-in.

In order to prioritize safety of all attendees, these restrictions will be enforced upon check-in at the NOC Outpost. Please reach out to us with any questions.

In the event of inclement weather, the trip will be cancelled. Refunds will be issued in accordance to the NOC policy: refunds will be issued if the outpost shuts down operations. If the event is cancelled due to weather at Science ATL's discretion, but the NOC outpost remains open, 70% of the ticket price will be refunded.
We are closely monitoring the safety with regards to E. coli levels in the river. Science ATL will follow the National Park Service guidelines as to weather or not it is safe to paddle. Refunds will be issued in accordance to the NOC policy outlines above.
