Build community through the wonder of science!

Broaden equitable access to STEM learning and foster Atlanta as a science city through your passion for science. Whether you work professionally in a STEM field or simply love science, anyone can inspire and prepare our next generation of STEM leaders! We encourage you to register to volunteer today, and be ready to volunteer with us for the Atlanta Science Festival in March!

If you are already registered as a volunteer in our system, no need to re-register. We’ll send you the specific volunteer opportunities for the Festival as they arise. If you are interested in a group opportunity, please contact us at [email protected].

Our long-time friend and volunteer, Danielle Freeman, is the inaugural Debbie Mullis Volunteer of the Year. Be like Danielle and become a Science ATL volunteer too!

Volunteer Roles

Public Events – including the Atlanta Science Festival!

Share your passion for science by helping out at our public science events! Duties may include setup, cleanup, attendee registration, wayfinding, ushering, crowd control, and distributing materials at the Atlanta Science Festival in March (where you can get our signature pink shirt) and at other events throughout the year. Become a registered volunteer now so you don’t miss out on updates for the Atlanta Science Festival!

School and Youth Programs

STEM professionals from industry and academia can volunteer for year-long roles with Science ATL’s Chief Science Officer and STEM Professional School Partnership programs in metro area schools, or get connected to one-off opportunities for career talks, science fair judging, STEM night programs, and other opportunities to inspire students about STEM topics and careers.

  • Classroom Visit: to kick off the annual Atlanta Science Festival, we mobilize 100 STEM professionals to visit 100 classrooms in 1 day! Registration is now closed. Sign up for our newsletter to find out about future opportunities.
  • Leadership Coach for middle and high school students in the Chief Science Officer program. Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are now closed. Check back in summer 2024 to participate next year.
  • School Partner: partner with a K-12 educator for monthly classroom interactions in the STEM professional School Partnership program. Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are closed. Check back in summer 2024 to participate next year.

General Organizational Support

As a tiny non-profit, we can use all hands on deck! If you’ve got a special skill, are great at organizing data, can provide administrative support, or just want to help our cause, we need you!

  • Deliver materials to prepare for the annual Atlanta Science Festival. We currently need help distributing marketing materials around local Atlanta shops to get the word out for ASF. Make it extra fun and get a friend to walk around town with you!
  • Support our general office functions for mailings, data entry, or database maintenance
  • Flexible timing to complete projects

Join our community of science lovers!
