Join Science ATL and Halfway Crooks for a jam-packed trivia night that’s part science-y facts and part pop culture romp! Bring your nerdy team together (or bravely play solo) to win ultimate bragging rights—and some real prizes, too. This time around, we're buggin' out with an insect theme in honor of our summer book club!
The best part? Delicious food, good lager, and a fun atmosphere at the at Halfway Crooks Biergarten. Come hungry, thirsty, and ready to play!

Nature Navigators: Bugs of Blue Heron

Come with us to explore the ecosystems of Blue Heron Nature Preserve. Inspired by our summer book club theme, we'll be spending a lot of time looking down on this walk - on the hunt for bugs of all varieties! We'll have nets to catch aquatic bugs and bug boxes to take a closer look at the terrestrial insects we find!
Nature Navigators leads us on adventures into (& out of) the green spaces found in & around Atlanta, while exposing the countless science experiments that nature is constantly running and how humans observe, influence, and are influenced by the natural world.
Consider these hikes as more of a scientific expedition through our local ecosystems. To that end, our entire journey will be a type of observational study and along the way we'll be making frequent stops to appreciate & ask questions about our surroundings.
Be prepared, it's almost time to slip away into the wild & ask nature why it's so weird! Pack water, snacks or a mobile meal, a smile and whatever else is appropriate for the respective adventure. Children are always welcome as long as they are able! Or you can backpack them!! Well behaved dogs are welcome so long as they remain leashed in accordance with local regulations.

Science ATL LABS: STEAM

For this Learning And Bonding through Science event, we're diving into the world of STEAM! Kids and their chaperone will work side-by-side to build wire sculptures of bugs! We've spent all summer thinking about insects at our book club, and now we want to use them as inspiration to create some whimsical art based on the real anatomy of insects!
Ticket includes admission for one student + their one chaperone (adult 18 or older). This event is designed for children 4th grade and above. All students must be accompanied by a chaperone; one student + one chaperone per ticket.
