O-Academy Camp at the Outdoor Activity Center (OAC) provides youth, ages 5-12, with a safe and supportive place to explore nature and help care for our environment. Hosted by West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, our experienced staff are environmental educators, who foster outdoor skills. They are caring, creative and will help your child make meaningful connections to nature.
WAWA will facilitate programming that is principled in our Environmental Education pedagogy including; the power of play, placed-based learning, cultural relevance, inquiry instruction, and social constructivism. These principles are underlying but with the use of the outdoors as our classroom, youth will utilize these learning styles while developing knowledge of natural sciences, water hydrology, nature preservation, consideration for living things, agriculture, and cosmology, to name a few.

The Science of Fun STEM Camp

The Science of Fun (SOF) is a summer STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) day camp for grades K-5 near downtown Decatur, Georgia. Join us for hands-on experiments such as slime, rockets, Legos, roller coasters, and homemade ice cream! Our campers receive hearty outdoor play, solid interpersonal coaching, and engaging hands-on STEM activities. We are teacher-owned and operated. Our supervisors are certified teachers who know how to strike the right balance between structure and fun! Rising Middle and High Schoolers may apply for our competitive Counselor in Training (CIT) or Internship Programs. Campers must be age 5+ on the first day of camp.
Each summer, we offer four distinct themes, with each session lasting one week. This setup allows you to schedule up to four weeks of camp in one location without repeating activities! The activities change every year, and many families return summer after summer. An early registration discount is available. We also have a robust CIT (Counselor in Training) leadership program.

The Neuroscience School - Human Brain Imaging: Methods and Applications

The Neuroscience School at Georgia State University offers week-long classes in neuroscience for high school students. This class on human brain imaging reviews human brain anatomy; introduces brain imaging hardware, software, and data; and offers a tour of a brain imaging center (for students in the Atlanta region). Then the course explores ways that scientists use imaging to record brain activation during reading and to study what might be different in reading disorders. The course closes with a day devoted to understanding how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to analyze brain imaging data.

The Girls Link Up summer program targets rising 3rd-9th grade girls across Atlanta. Sessions will occur Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 3:30pm starting June 9, 2025, through July 3, 2025. Each day of the week is scheduled to incorporate elements of STEAM and Entrepreneurship. Academic sessions occur during morning sessions, specifically focusing on improving math fluency and building reading skills using science in a contextual learning framework. We intentionally provide an affordable, one-of-a-kind summer experience for girls to explore, engage, and ignite their passions.

Your camper will unleash the power of the claw as they make their own mechanical claw machine complete with unique prizes that they create! They’ll discover hands-on physics, explore animals with claws and become an entrepreneur.

Embracing their curiosity, your camper will uncover the science behind optical illusions in art, movies, attractions, theater and animation. They’ll design and test various illusions and invent their own moving props to become a special effects expert!
**PROBLEM SOLVING**
Your camper will rev up for the ultimate road trip complete with their own transmitter and receiver, custom dashboard and travel map! As an innovative traveler, they’ll choose their own path and invent their way out of bumps in the road.
**PERSISTENCE**
Embarking on an eco-expedition, your camper will investigate penguins and the ice and snow of Antarctica. With their imagination and the help of a robotic assistant, they’ll develop penguin and planet-saving prototypes!
