Tree Tour: Health, Wealth, and History on the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum Eastside Trail

May 21 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

In this tree tour, we’ll talk the different ways that the outdoors—and specifically this part of Atlanta’s urban forest – makes us healthy. We’ll cover the health benefits of the outdoors and public parks and green spaces, of certain plants and herbs, and even the Fountain of Youth! We’ll also talk about the wealth behind and generated by the Eastside Atlanta Beltline, and who stands to benefit from its health effects. We’ll tie all of that in with Atlanta history, stretching back through the city’s founding and up through the present day.

About the Tour Guide: Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Dan Rzewnicki is an Emory University medical student with a background in public health who loves the outdoors. When not studying, you might find him hiking, biking, or practicing yoga. He lived right off this section of the Beltline when he moved to Atlanta, so it’s a special place that he often explored on foot, was his launching pad to learn more about Atlanta history, and was even where he spent quite a bit of time getting to know his, now fiancée, Megen.
