Join MODA as we celebrate the Atlanta Design Festival and get an up-close and in-person view of the Kendeda Living Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech!
The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design is among the greenest buildings in the world. It is also the 28th building to earn Living Building Challenge certification, the world’s most ambitious and holistic green building achievement.
Rather than just being less bad than conventional buildings, The Kendeda Building is regenerative, meaning that it gives back more than it takes from the environment and focuses on the health and happiness of its occupants. Over the course of a year, the structure collects and infiltrates into the ground 15 times the amount of water needed for operations. Its photovoltaic system supplies over 200% of the building’s energy needs.
The building was designed to be a living-learning laboratory for students and faculty at Georgia Tech. It demonstrates how architecture can make a positive impact on the environment, while the EcoCommons improves air quality, increases biodiversity, and restores the natural water cycle.
A Kendeda Living Building Fellow will show us around and share all the things that make this building such an extraordinary achievement.
There will be four limited-capacity tours over the course of the day, starting at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. Choose the one that works best for you- registration is required.
