STEM in the City: The Ecology of Cultivating Food in Urban Areas

SEM Link’s STEM in the City workshops introduce youth to earth and environmental sciences! For the first edition of our new program year, we’re getting into ECOLOGY, a good STEM pathway for youth and teens interested in plants and the outdoors!

Attendees of this workshop will be introduced to the topic of Urban gardening, plant structure and function, variables to produce healthy produce and the impact of Urban air on the quality of urban grown produce.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Ahkinyala Cobb-Abdullah is the Director of the Virginia Union University Center for STEM Diversity and Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Ecology at Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA.
