Looking for the perfect gift for the young adventurer(s) in your life? Give them the opportunity to design, build, and customize their own skateboard!
In this 3 hour, action-packed studio, young designers will assemble and customize their own skateboards right here at the museum. MODA will supply a skateboard deck, wheels, trucks, grip tape, and materials for creating custom skateboard graphics.
While we work, we’ll discuss the origins, history and basics of skateboarding, best safety practices, different skating “styles,” and more!
When the class is over, young designers will have a board of their own they can ride!
Students Will Learn:
-
How skateboarding got started and how skate decks became sites of visual expression for skateboarders the class
-
How to build a skateboard including how all the parts fit together, how to customize the board to fit your needs, and how to make adjustments as necessary
-
