Science of Kayaking – Wednesday, August 11
On shore, kids learn and practice the science that allows boats to float as we investigate buoyancy, displacement, density, hydrodynamics and aerodynamics. We then apply these concepts as we take a kayak tour to demonstrate how forces are used to move the kayak.
We partner with Murphs Surf Shop to study the science of Lake Allatoona. Each 3-hour workshop, consists of on-shore, hands-on science activities as well as field science data collection as we kayak along the shoreline. Bring a lunch and we will take a lunch break at the surf shop. Registration includes kayak and life jacket rental.
