AQUATIC FIELD SCIENCE: Lake Ecology
Wednesday, September 8
Full series runs Wednesdays, August 11-September 8 (rain dates – 9/9 and 9/10)
10:00am-1:00pm
Ages 11-16
On shore, we discuss the diversity of vertebrates and invertebrates that inhabit lakeshore environments and how they interact with each other and their environment. While kayaking, we collect data on the species we observe, including their behavior and where they were found. We also learn and practice navigation skills using a compass.
We partner with Murphs Surf Shop to study the science of Lake Allatoona. Each 3-hour workshop, consists of on-shore, hands-on science activities as well as field science data collection as we kayak along the shoreline. Bring a lunch and we will take a lunch break at the surf shop. Registration includes kayak and life jacket rental.
