Join Georgia Audubon and the Newman Wetlands Center for a tour of the treatment wetlands at Clayton County Water Authority, and witness hundreds of thousands of blackbirds coming in to roost! This trip will be a driving tour of the wetlands, which are home to winter and resident waterfowl, hawks, eagles, songbirds, and more! This trip is accessible for people who use mobility devices, and can be enjoyed completely from your car.
Trip Description: This trip will begin at the Newman Wetlands Center, where we will meet for bathroom access and trip instructions. We will then caravan in our cars through the treatment wetlands, and the trip leaders will point out birds along the route. We will then stop at the blackbird roosting site where we will enjoy hot beverages and donuts as we continue to look for birds and wait for the blackbirds to return for the evening! The end location is on a hard-packed dirt road with some loose gravel. We encourage you to dress warmly/comfortably for the temperature, though you are welcome to stay in your car for the entirety of the trip (you will be able to see the blackbirds from your car!)
